CR Converter [Web Version]

Postby holyschmidt » Mon Oct 26, 2009 10:52 pm

This tool has now been officially approved for .ORG servers.
http://board.ikariam.org/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=70526

This will be a discussion area for bugs and/or suggestions for the WEB VERSION of the CR Converter.
This tool is located here, and is in the process of getting formal approval.

I will update this post later with screenshots and a more detailed description. In short, it provides the same function as my CR Converter script for GreaseMonkey, but can now be used from any browser, without GM installed.

I have completed coding up a way for users to "save" their custom color or tag settings for the Web Version of the CR Converter. The dialog is designed in a way similar to the GreaseMonkey script. There are two "tabs", one for changing the colors of the report, and another for altering the tag, or bbcode-like settings.

Here is a screenshot of the "Color" tab:

and the "Tags" tab:

Whenever a custom setting is made (server, report style, color, tag) a "Quick-Link" button will appear in the Setting Dialog. This will give users the option to bookmark this link, so those same settings can be restored. You can create as many different settings options as if wish (for example, if your alliance forum needs different bbcode or coloring than the game forum).

Simply bookmark each one and use the appropriate link, as needed.

Please check the information you have given by the marked fields.". Everything is alright when I use the Preview button. It when I submit that I get the error. Please Help.

Were you the last one to make a post? I've noticed on the IK boards that sometimes users are not allowed to have posts back-to-back.

Yes. However, its my own CR thread. I noticed people posting CRs in their own CR Thread back to back. Shouldn't the error message say that? Thats weird.

You're probably going to need to provide a little more information here.

People tend to forget that it's very difficult to diagnose problems in technical applications with minimal information such as "it doesn't work!" which can mean anything from "I'm getting an error 404 when I click submit" to "I have no idea what a mouse is, let alone how to click submit!"

Give as many details as possible. Try pasting the combat report that caused the problem here. Describe every error in detail, and better yet, post screenshots. :) You said your combat report dissappears, right? What's there in its place? Is the form just blank? Do you get any errors? Is the entire page blank, etc...

You are welcome to send me the HTML source (as an atachment) and I can try and debug it that way.

First, as an Opera user, let me thank you for making your Greasemonkey script available for use via a web page.

I know that, in theory, Opera should be able to parse user.js scripts; but the way I have Opera set up, it doesn't parse your Ikariam CS converter.

Unfortunately, the web based version has stopped working for me this evening.

I paste the CR page source from "<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC ..." to "</html>" into the text entry box and hit Convert Report. When the page refreshes, the text entry box still shows the HTML source and not the converted CR.

This is even the case with CRs that I have successfully converted via your page several days ago. I have cleared my cache and the betawarriors.com cookies but this has had no noticeable effect.

This problem started around 19:30 GMT 22 November.

What other info can I offer you and/or what else can I try?
